FAQ
Where can I use Operator Connect?
This depends on the countries for which the provider is certified to deliver services. Microsoft have a stringent certification process that providers have to pass to ensure they can offer compliant and reliable services.
SCB Global can currently provide Operator Connect voice services in 71 countries (& counting) – the largest of any provider on the program.
Can I use Operator with Direct Routing and Teams Calling Plans
Yes, you can. SCB Global will help you access and provide advice on which deployment model will best meet your needs depending on geography, features, use cases and other requirements. It is common for most customers to have a mix of deployment models and we can support all of them.
Do I need any additional hardware for Operator Connect?
No. One of the main benefits of Operator Connect is that you don’t need to invest in any additional hardware-typically an SBC (Session Border Controller) – eliminating additional cost and ongoing management.
Who manages what?
In terms of the ongoing management, you manage all the user provisioning, number assignments and call flow settings directly in the your Teams Admin Center. The Operator Connect Provider is responsible for the PSTN backend and services including connectivity and reliability.
What happens to my current Phone system?
That depends on you. If for whatever reason you need to keep you telephony system, we can integrate it into your Teams environment for you. This is common during a phased migration process or even as part of your business continuity measures.
However, for most businesses, moving voice to Teams is part of a project to replace their traditional PBX, meaning it will be decommissioned once all services and users have been safely moved to Teams.
